Higher Degrees in Sociology
Sociology offers a range of options for postgraduate students intending to use sociology as a pathway to a higher research qualification or as a pathway to employment in government and social research. The Department has a thriving PhD and Masters by research program and a wide range of academic staff able to supervise doctoral research.
The Department also offers both Masters and Graduate Diploma-level degrees in applied social research and public policy, which are completed through coursework. The courses are especially useful for strengthening applied social research skills - both qualitative and quantitative - and understanding of Australian public and social policy.
