Postgraduate Diploma in Policy and Applied Social Research
Admission Requirements
A first degree with a major in sociology or another social science; or other tertiary qualifications combined with relevant work experience; or extensive practical experience in policy analysis or applied social research with few formal qualifications. The last category of applicants may be required to complete a 4 to 8 credit point program of relevant undergraduate units prior to entering the Postgraduate Diploma program. Applicants may be called for an interview as part of the selection process.

Length of candidature: 1 – 2 years part-time
Course requirements: 6 units (total 24 credit points) at 800 level, four of which must be core units offered in the Master of Policy and Applied Social Research program (refer to that program for core and elective unit designation and description).
Attendance: part-time
Commencement: March, August

The program is three quarters of the value of the Master of Policy and Applied Social Research. It comprises four of the core units offered in the Masters program plus two other units at 800 level as approved by the Masters program convenor. The Postgraduate Diploma in Policy and Applied Social Research will articulate into the Masters programs in Policy and Applied Social Research (as long as the former is completed within ten years of seeking entry into either of these programs). If students complete all 24 credit points at ‘Pass’ or better they will be counted toward the more advanced program on admission to it.
