Postgraduate Certificate in Policy and Applied Social Research
Admission Requirements:
A first degree with a major in sociology or another social science: or other tertiary qualifications combined with relevant work experience; or extensive practical experience in policy analysis or applied social research with few formal qualifications. The last category of applicants may be required to complete a 4 to 8 credit point program of relevant undergraduate units prior to entering the Postgraduate Diploma program. Applicants may be called for an interview as part of the selection process.

Length of candidature: one to two semesters
Course requirements: 3 units (total 12 credit points) at 800 level, two of which must be core units offered in the Master of Policy and Applied Social Research (refer as above).
Attendance: Part-time

The program is one third of the value of the Master of Policy and Applied Social Research. It comprises two of the core units offered in the Masters program plus one other unit at 800 level as approved by the Masters program convenor. The Postgraduate Certificate in Policy and Applied Social Research will articulate into the Postgraduate Diploma or Masters programs in Policy and Applied Social Research (as long as the former is completed within ten years of seeking entry into either of these programs). If students complete all 24 credit points at ‘Pass’ or better they will be counted toward the more advanced program on admission to it.
